A one and half-year old child drowned in a pond at Basabaria village in Kachua upazila on Saturday.The deceased was identified as Ashraful Islam, son of Abu Yusuf of the village.
Family sources said Ashraful slipped into the pond while playing at the courtyard of their house the morning.
Later, Asharful’s floating body was recovered from the pond at about 11am.
He was rushed to Kachua Upazila Health Complex where the attending doctor declared him dead.
