Chinese firm donates protective gears to Bangladesh

China Machinery Import and Export Co (CMC) has donated urgent anti-epidemic materials to Bangladesh as part of its social responsibilities during this global coronavirus pandemic.

The items include 10 lakh masks, 10,000 protective suits, 10,000 goggles and 2,000 forehead thermometres.

The medical logistics were handed over at a function jointly organised by CMC and Health and Family Welfare Ministry here, said the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka on Friday.The first batch of supplies arrived in Dhaka on Thursday on a Bangladesh Air Force aircraft, it said.

Chinese companies have been extending its support to Bangladesh as part of their social responsibilities to help it fight Covid-19.

Earlier, China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC), a state-owned company of China, China Railway Group Limited (CREC) and other Chinese companies donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety gears to hospitals in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has so far confirmed 131 deaths and 4,689 coronavirus cases.UNB
