Bangladeshi fusion band Chirkutt confirms a new musical collaboration with Latin Grammy winning producer-artist Johan Alcover. The band, which is currently in tour in USA, made the announcement via a Facebook post on Sunday afternoon.

The band informs that they will jointly record a song in a studio called We Loud, Alcover’s Bornx, New York Studio, on April 6 and 7. The song is a musical collaboration between Chirkutt’s Bangla fusion and Latin genre “Bachata.”

The members of Chirkutt recently met Johan, winner of the Latin Billboard and BMI awards, at his studio in New York. The band’s post about Johan Alcover reads: “He is such a down-to-earth and humble person that we have already become his fans (smile emoticon).

The post further reads: “We had a long meeting yesterday, had shared our music, thought and ideas. Hopefully it will be a great journey and we really hope that something interesting will come up through our combined effort.”

Chirkutt thanked the US record label Yonder, which is to produce the single, which could lead the band in to the global music scene.

Last month, the band performed in SXSW Music in Austin, Texas, as the first Bangladeshi band to have ever performed there. Apart from the performance at SXSW, the band held a few other gigs in Dallas, Austin, Florida, New York and Atlanta as a part of their month-long tour of USA.
