CID holds meeting with FBI at its head office in Dhaka Friday

Dhaka – The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police will hold a meeting with United States of America’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at CID headquarters in the city on Friday afternoon to discuss about the much-talked about the $101 heist of Bangladesh Bank.
A 7-member CID team led by its Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syful Alam visited Bangladesh Bank on Thursday afternoon.
Talking to reporters at the BB Premises after their visit, DIG Syful Alam said they will have in a meeting with the FBI officials, attached with the US Embassy in Dhaka, on Friday afternoon to discuss the incident.

He said that the investigation agency has already seized the server of the BB and they have also been scrutinizing the security of the networking system of the server.
Replying to a question, Syful Alam said the investigators will interrogate present and former BB officials, including governor Dr Atiur Rahman who has just resigned, in the interest of the investigation of the case.
Sources at BB said the CID team talks with officials of Accounting and Budgeting Department, Information and Communication Department and Payment System department.
On the first day of its inquiry into the BB Scam, the CID on Wednesday quizzed the central bank officials and collected various information from computers of its server.
The hackers swindled out the amount from the Bangladesh Bank’s account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York last month. The sensational heist surfaced after a Philippines newspaper published a report on it.
The CID was given the onus of investigation into the incident after the central bank filed a case with Motijheel Police Station in the city on Tuesday afternoon. Later, the case has been shifted to the CID in the evening. – News Desk
