City polls not more important than inclusive JS polls: Bnp

BNP policymakers said that they do not consider local body polls as so much important than the prevailing political impasse over holding an inclusive parliamentary election under a non-partisan government.
Talking to The Independent, BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said they are thinking more about the ongoing movement rather than the DCC polls.“As per as I know, there had been no discussion or there had been no decision about the participation in the local body poll,” he said,
The BNP leader further said the disappearance of party joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed has added a new dimension to the movement.
Another standing committee member Lt Gen (Retd) Mahbubur Rahman said he personally considers that the nation must overcome the democratic and political crisis face by them.
“Priority must be given to national election not to local body polls,” he added.
Replying to a question, he said the government is holding the local body polls to divert the attention of the people from the ongoing movement. – Staff Reporter
