College student found dead in Manikganj

A college student was found dead at Daulatpur in Manikganj on
Wednesday.  The victim was identified as Sohel Rana, 18, son of Saudi
expatriate Rohij Uddin of Kapshai village under Daulatpur upazila in
Manikganj.
Rana was first year student of Ghoaiala Technical College. On
information, police recovered his decomposed body from a maize field
at Char-Kapshail village at around 11:00 am.
Victim’s grandfather Mohir Uddin said Ekhlas Uddin, son of Moizuddin
of Boiragi village took Tk.4.15 lakhs from the family member of Sohel
Rana six months giving assurance of a job in Bangladesh Army.
According to his assurance, Ekhlas gave him fake appointment letter,
he alleged.  Failing to get the call up from the Army, Sohel started
putting pressure to Ekhlas, he said.
Ekhlas brought Sohel to Nirali Bazar from his house by making a cell
phone call on July 3 noon, he alleged.
Officer in charge (OC) of the police station Shawkat Alam said,
victim’s grandfather Mohir Uddin filed a general diary with Daulatpur
Police Station on July 5, two days after Rana went missing.
The body was sent Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Legal action would be taken after post mortem, the OC said. -Our Correspondent
