Congratulations to UPM VC Aini Ideris

It is heartening to learn that Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Malaysia’s leading research university – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Prior to joining the present post Dr. Aini was the UPM corporate strategy and communications Director. A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Dr. Aini holds a MVSc in Avian Medicine from the University of Liverpool, England, and a PhD in Avian Medicine from UPM. She received post-doctoral training at the University of California, Davis and at Cornell University, USA. Dr. Aini joined the UPM in 1979 as a tutor and later became a Professor.

Dr. Aini made great accomplishments in her academic and research works which include innovation of avian vaccines. She has several scientific publications and popular articles to her credit. She received several awards for her outstanding contributions to the field of science and technology. Her determination and success as a scientist was recognized by professional bodies, both national and international.. She was appointed as the Malaysian Science Academic (FASc) Fellow in 2009.
She also served the UPM in various administrative capacities including faculty and post-graduate deans and Deputy Vice Chancellor (academic and international).
Dr. Aini possesses great human qualities. As a person she is very kind, gentle and I would say an excellent communicator and audience.
Perhaps she is the first lady Vice Chncellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia. At the moment I can remember the name of Prof. Dr. Drew Gilpin Faust, the first lady President of Harvard University who is very successfully providing leadership to Harvard management. I sincerely hope and wish that Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris will be fully successful in applying her high quality leadership to further elevating the academic status and reputation of UPM to a front ranking university of the world.
My sincere congratulations!
Yours truly,
