Conspiracy on to destabilise health sector: Nasim

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Sunday alleged that a particular quarter is conspiring to destabilise the country’s health sector in a bid to put the government into trouble. “Those who’ve failed to assume power are now active to put the government into trouble. There shouldn’t be any scope for them to do so. They’ve now chosen the health sector as their various conspiracies have failed,” he said. The minister came up with allegation at a views-exchange meeting with the Swadhinata Chikatsak Parishad at his ministry. “An evil effort is on to create anarchy by instigating patients and their relatives, doctors and journalists,” the minister alleged. Pointing at the doctors, the Health Minister said, “You’ll have to win the hearts of people through your works. All must exercise restraint and tolerance. We have to put in our best efforts to implement the goals set by the Prime Minister.” The general people of the country trust doctors, said the minister adding, “They can’t hold back their emotion if any relative dies. Doctors must show respect for people’s trust because it’s a noble profession.” Mentioning that the government has taken initiatives to enact two new laws to protect patients as well as doctors, Nasim said, “The government has taken an initiative to strengthen Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. It will be able to take necessary if any aggrieved person lodges any complaint.” The minister informed that newly appointed doctors will be posted in the district near to his or her home district, and doctor’s spouse will be posted in the same district. – UNB
