Cool breeze brings relief from swealtering heat

The temperature dropped with a spate of cool breeze in capital Dhaka on Friday afternoon after soaring to a five-decade high the day before.
Sporadic rain was reported from some districts at the same time bringing relief from the scorching heat sweeping Bangladesh for over a week.
Munshiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Comilla are among the districts which saw light to moderate rain, Met Office Forecast Officer Abul Kalam Mollick said.
The Met Office said a rise in humidity led to the drop in temperature and chances of rain at some parts of the country were increasing.
Mollick said, “There are possibilities of rain at some places within next 24 hours from today. The temperature will fall further.”Saturday’s forecast predicted rain or thunder showers accompanied by gusty winds or with isolated hails in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet.
Weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
However, the severe heatwave blazing across Tangail, Rajshahi, Ishwardi, Khulna, Mongla, Jessore and Kushtia and moderate to mild heatwave in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Rangamati, Comilla, Chandpur and Feni may continue.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged.
The highest temperature recorded on Friday was 41.9 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga. Dhaka recorded a high of 39 degrees.
On Thursday, the temperature in Dhaka touched 40.2 degrees, a five-decade high. – bdnews24.com
