BGB hands over 2 Indians to BSF

Seven hours after two Indian citizens were kidnapped by some Bangladeshi nationals along the India-Bangladesh border in Feni district, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued and handed them over to their counterparts Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday.
Earlier, a flag meeting was held between the officials of BSF and BGB regarding this matter.Lt Col Kazi Mahmudnnabi, Commander of the BGB-4 Battalion in Feni, told bdnews24.com that some local Bangladeshis kidnapped the two Indian nationals – identified as Uttam Tripura and Haradhan Tripura – from South Sonapur area of the Sonapur-Noapur border outpost under Fulgazi Upazila in the district at around 8pm on Thursday.
On getting information, the BGB personnel raided the area and rescued the two Indian nationals at about 3am on Friday with the help of the Fulgazi police station and local public representatives.
Later, the BGB personnel brought them to the Sonapur border.
A flag meeting was held between the officials of BSF and BGB near the Pillar No. 2134/9F of the Sonapur BOP around 10am on Friday.
BGB Nayek Subedar Helal and Sub-Inspector of the BSF Sarendra Singh represented their respective sides at the meeting. After the meeting, the BGB personnel handed over the Indian citizens to the BSF.
Quoting the Indian nationals, BGB Commander Mahmudnnabi said that some Indian citizens owed money to the three local Bangladeshis who kidnapped the two Indians while they were catching fish in the trans-border Muhuri river to get their money back.
The identities of the Bangladeshis involved in the abduction could be ascertained, the BGB official said.
Contacted, OC of the Phulgazi Police Station Ahmed Nasir Uddin said that it was the responsibility of the BGB to find the detained the kidnappers.-bdnews24.com
