Cooperative movement for women empowerment stressed

Speakers at a views-sharing meeting have stressed for successful cooperative movement in the community based organisations (CBOs) for empowerment of the rural women, their economic uplift and preventing social curses.
The local CBOs could play vital role in making cooperative movement successful to enhance progress of the rural women making them self-reliant and united in preventing violence against women, repression and other social curses, they said.Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) organised the meeting for female CBO leaders with the cooperative officers at Fulbari ADP hall room under Fulabri upazila of Dinajpur on Monday.District Cooperative Officer of Dinajpur Tozammel Haque attended the day- long views-sharing meeting as the chief guest with Fulbari Upazila Cooperative Officer Mohammad Abdul Rouf in the chair.Acting Manager of Fulabri ADP of WVB Badal Sangma, it’s Programme Officers Lal Thuai Bom and Pallabi Murmu and Child Protection Officer Shantanan Singh attended and addressed the meeting as the special guests.Thirty female CBO leaders of Betdighee Mohona Mohila Samobai Samity Limited, Sonali Mohila Unnayan Forum, Suryamukhi Mohila Unnayan Forum, Bhorer Alo Mohila Unnayan Forum, Prottyasha Mohila Unnayan Forum and Swapnochura Mohila Unnayan Forum from different unions of the upazila participated.The speakers put special emphasis on proper management in cooperative microcredit, savings and capital building activities of the CBOs to create jobs and alleviate poverty for bringing self- reliance to the rural women for their development and empowerment.They stressed for enhancing capacities of the female CBO leaders and entrepreneurs to ensure proper financial managements in freeing the nation from poverty and hunger through achieving self-reliance by the poor rural women.They said proper management in the small-scale CBOs and cooperative societies could unite the poor to enhance productivities in all rural sectors, including agriculture and enterprises, in the process of building a middle income Bangladesh.The chief guest stressed for effective managements in the grassroots level CBOs and cooperative societies to develop human resources and flourish women leadership for eradicating poverty through increasing productions and creating jobs. -BSS, Rangpur
