Cop hurt in clash with Jamaat-Shibir in city

A police constable was injured as Jamaat-Shibir activists attacked  a police vehicle in the city’s Badda on Saturday morning.   The injured person was identified as constable Abdul Alim, 38, a driver of a police van of Badda police station. Witnesses said as part of their scheduled countrywide demonstration programme, some Jamaat-Shibir men brought out a procession in the area at about 8:45 am.   The activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir went on the rampage when police foiled their procession. They also exploded several crude bombs.   Contacted, officer-in-charge of Badda police station Iqbal Hossain said constable Abdul Alim received injuries when some Jamaat-Shibir men threw brickbats targeting a police vehicle at about 8:45 am.   He was first rushed to a local clinic and then sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. – UNB
