Dhaka, Jul 6– Mentioning that the country is now going through a ‘disastrous’ situation, Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad on Thursday urged people to bring his party to power in the next general election to change their fate.“There’s no security of people. The incidents of killing and disappearance are happening every day. People are dying in natural disasters and accidents. Common people are leading the life in a helpless state. There’s nobody to stand beside them,” he said.
The JP chief came up with the observations while addressing a function held at his Banani office marking the joining of Jessore Islami Oikya Jote leader Hakim Mufti Firoj Shah to his party. Mufti Firoj along with his seventy-eight members joined the Jatiya Party.
The former military ruler urged people to bring his party to power through the next polls in the interest of the country and its people apart from restoring peace and stability in the country.
Ershad, an ally of the ruling party, said people from different fields have started coming under the flag of Jatiya Party as they have understood that no political party can run the country properly except Jatiya Party.
JP secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, MP, praesidium member Maj (retd) M Khaled Akhtar and central leader SM Mushfiqur Rahman spoke at the function with its praesidium member and coordinator of Khulna district JP Sunil Shuvo Roy in the chair.
JP chairman’s adviser advocate Rezaul Karim Bhuiyan, vice chairman Nurul Islam Nuru, general secretary of Jubosonghoti Fakhrul Islam Sahajada, Advocate Jahirul Haque and Helal Uddin were, among others, present, said a press release.
Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad has postponed the July 8 council meeting of United National Alliance (UNA) considering the inclement weather.
Sunil Shuvo Roy, press and political secretary to the former president, in a press release, said that UNA leader took the decision to postpone the council meeting in consultation with the alliance leaders in the wake of incessant rains and inclement weather.
According to met office forecast, there is a possibility of rain on July 10, that’s why the meeting has been postponed in consultation with the alliance leaders, said the release.
