Couple killed over land dispute in Narsingdi

A couple was strangulated to death by miscreants, allegedly over a dispute involving land
ownership, at Baliadi village in Palash upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Arman Mia, 65, and his wife Salma Begum, 55, of the
village.
The victims’ son said a group of miscreants entered the room of his parents cutting the
house fence at the dead of night and strangulated them with a piece of cloth in a preplanned way, leaving them dead on the spot.
He also said the other house inmates found the bodies of his parents lying on the floor the
next morning and informed police.
Later, law enforces recovered the bodies and sent those to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital
morgue for autopsy.
None was arrested in this connection.
Officer-in-charge of Palash Police Station Shahadat Hossain said there had been a
longstanding dispute between Arman and an influential person of the village over the
ownership of a piece of land.
They might have been killed by the rival group, added the OC. -UNB, Narsingdi
