Court allow BNP men last time

A Dhaka court on Sunday allowed last time for hearing on charge framing in a violence case filed against 74 BNP men including the party’s Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.Earlier, January 24 was fixed for hearing on charge framing in the case. However, Mirza Fakhrul lawyer Joinal Abedin Mesbah filed a petition on Sunday seeking time. He told that Mirza Fakhrul could not come to the court due to his illness. Meanwhile, the prosecution lawyers vehemently opposed the time petition. They told the court that the case was filed in 2012 and the court allowed them time on several occasions.

Then the defense counsel sought time for the last time while the court acceded to his appeal granted time for the last time fixing February 3 as the last date.

On December 9, 2012, SI Abu Taher Bhuiyan of Paltan Police Station filed the case against the accused people on the charges of vandalism and arson attack in Paltan area of the city. On July 28, 2014, Paltan Police Station SI Abu Zafar submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court against 74 BNP leaders and activists.
