A court here on Sunday asked the officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station to take legal action against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia after investigation in connection with the sedition case filed against her for making ‘derogatory remarks’ against the State.Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Atiqur Rahman passed the order after taking cognizance of the case.
Earlier, Advocate Abdul Malek alias Mashiur Malek, president of Bangabandhu Foundation, filed a case against Khaleda Zia over her alleged derogatory remarks against the State and its creation.
According to the case statement, the BNP chief came up with ‘derogatory remarks’ about the State and its creation while addressing a discussion meeting at the city’s Engineers Institution Auditorium on December 21.
In her address, Khaleda said, “There’re controversies over how many were martyred in the Liberation War. There are also many books and documents on the controversies.”
The case statement added that Khaleda in that programme also made controversial remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s role during the Liberation War.
