CPB, BSD for national dialogue to end political impasse

The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) on Friday called for a national dialogue among all the pro-liberation political parties to resolve the current crisis.
Addressing a mass rally, jointly organised by the two left parties at Suhrawardy Udyan, the leaders also stressed the need for forging a unity among the pro-liberation and left political parties.Speaking on the occasion, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim said the people of the country will not find any peace if the parties, who are enjoying state power over the 44 years since the independence, continue to hold power
“That’s why the pro-liberation and left parties need to forge a left-alternative force,” he said.
The CPB chief also noted that they do not want to see that Jamaat-Shibir becomes part of the state power, urging BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to part ways with the Jamaat-Shibir.
“At the same time, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina needs to understand that she can’t contain fire by pouring more fire,” he added.
From the mass rally, CPB and BSD announced demonstrations across the country at district level on March 2-8.
The rally was also addressed by BSD general secretary Kholiquzzaman and CPB general secretary Syed Abu Jafar Ahmed. – UNB
