CPL champ Shakib returns Friday

Dhaka – Bangladesh’s global cricketing superstar Shakib Al Hasan is set to return home on Friday, after completing his 4th Caribbean Premier League (CPL) stint, this time as a champion, with the Jamaica Tallawahs.Shakib has always maintained the Caribbean is one of his favourite cricketing destinations, and left home to join CPL in late June with wife in tow. His contribution to the champions was widely acknowledged, and reflected in numbers,UNB News Agency Reported.In 13 games for the Tallawahs this season, Shakib scored 160 runs at nearly 23, including one half century, and bagged twelve wickets with an average 19.7, and a best of 3/23. His economy rate was an impressive 6.9.Shakib tasted his first ever CPL title victory in this edition when the Tallawahs beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by 9 wickets in the final.With this CPL title, Shakib now has the envious record of tasting glory for three domestic T20 championship winning sides – having previously won for Dhaka Gladiators in the BPL and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL.On his return, Shakib is likely to join the ongoing national camp for the scheduled home series against England in October.The English cricketers are due to arrived in Bangladesh on September 30, to play two Tests and three ODIs against the Tigers across Dhaka and Chittagong.
