Two construction workers were killed as a crane collapsed while
bringing down embroidery machines from a multi-storied building in
the city’s Sutrapur area early Friday.
The deceased were identified as Habib, 25, of Swarupkathi upazila in
Pirojpur district, and Nawab, 25, of Sakhipur upazila in Shariatpur
district.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sutrapur Police Station, said the
accident took place in the area at about 1:30 am when a crane
collapsed after its rope tore down while bringing down embroidery
machines from the 10th floor of the 13-storey Grate Wall Market
building, leaving the two workers, staying in it, dead on the spot.
