Cricketer Mashrafe collects AL ticket for election

Dhaka, Nov 11 – Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, the captain of the One Day Internationals for Bangladesh National Cricket Team, on Sunday collected the ruling Awami League nomination form for contesting the 11th parliamentary elections slated for December 23. He collected nomination paper for the Narail-2 constituency from the AL general secretary Obaidul Quader at the party president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office.
Earlier, on Saturday Mashrafe went to Ganabhaban around 11:30 am to meet prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
AL joint general secretaries Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organizing secretary of the central committee Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, cultural affairs secretary Asim Kumar Ukil were also present during his (Mashrafe) nomination paper collection.
Another national team cricketer Shakib Al Hasan was supposed to collect nomination form with Mashrafe yesterday. But Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina suggested him to give attention to play, AL insiders said.
The cricketer Mashrafe bin Mortaza had already engaged him in different social welfare works. Last year he founded a service-oriented organization titled ‘Narail Express Foundation.’
