Cricketer Sunny sent to jail

Dhaka – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka on Tuesday sent cricketer Arafat Sunny to the jail rejecting his bail petition in a case lodged under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jakir Hossain Tipu passed the order after hearing when police produced him to the court on completion of one-day remand.
The court turned down the bail plea on of the cricketer hearing the submissions of his lawyer Jewel Ahmed and the prosecution counsel.
On Sunday, Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar of the CMM Court placed Arafat Sunny on a one-day remand in the case filed by 23-year- old Nasrin Sultana, who claims to have married the 30-year- old left-arm spinner Sunny on December 4, 2014.
Police arrested Arafat Sunny from Aminbazar residence under Savar upazila of the district on January 22. Later, on Monday, Nasrin filed another case against Arafat Sunny and his mother Nargis Akter on the charge of demanding Tk 20 lakh as dowry. – Special Correspondent
