Dhaka, Dec 7 – The Detective Branch (DB) of police, serious crimes unit, detained seven persons over question paper leakage of Department of Narcotics Control’s (DNC) recruitment test. They were nabbed from different parts of the city, on Friday night.
The detainees are–Shohel Rana, Mahmudul, Ansarul Islam, Debashis, Rabiul Auwal, Rajiur Rahman and Rejaul Karim were arrested from Dhaka’s Mirpur, Kalabagan and Shiddeshwari areas.
The detainees were allegedly involved in helping people cheat in the recruitment test for DNC.
The DB police also recovered USB drives, Bluetooth devices, SIM cards and mobile phones from the possession of the detainees.
At a press briefing, yesterday Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) (Media and public) said that among the detainees, Shohel has been held before for the same offence, but he had secured bail later.
We had our intelligence surveillance on him. This group was again active in the recruitment examination of DNC on Friday. Their used devices are so subtle that nobody has the ability to understand until
they are suspected, said Masudur Rahman.
“In a contractual basis of Tk. 5-10 lakh with each candidate they were linked up with them and using electronic devices to leak question paper in the country’s important recruitment test,” said the DC.
However, the payments were made after the clients passed their exams.
In initial interrogation, it was known that as part of the plan some members of the group took part in the examination as a test taker.
They took pictures of the question paper and sent it out of the centre to their other group members via an electronic device. The members who were at outside were able to resolve the question paper and supply answers to the candidates according to the contract.
We filed a case against them with Ramna police station. We have submitted a request to the court seeking permission for remanding them also said, Masudur Rahman. – Staff Reporter
