“Debi” finally got permission for release from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board. On October 3, board members watched the film and authorized Jaya Ahsan to release the film uncut.
A leading member of the censor board Iftekhar Uddin Nawshad told Bangla Tribune, he is certain people will get to watch a different kind of film. People from every background should come out to watch it, Nawshad suggested.
“Debi” was made on a government grant and the grant committee gave their approval of the film last week.

One of the most popular novels of renowned author Humayun Ahmed, “Debi” was adapted for the screen by Anam Biswas, and stars Jaya Ahsan as the titular character. Misir Ali will be portrayed by Chanchal Chowdhury.
