Deposition against 147 leaders of 20-party Oct 7

A Dhaka court on Monday deferred recording the deposition in the case filed against 147 BNP-led 18 party-men including BNP Joint Secretary Generals Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Amanullah Aman and former Chief Whip Zainul Abedin Farroque to October 7.
Magistrate Atiqur Rahman of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order in response to an appeal of defence counsel Syed Joinul Abedin Mesba. Detained Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was not produced to the court on the occasion.Paltan Police Station Sub-Inspector Jahangir Hossain filed the case accusing 154 18-party men under the Speedy Trial Act on March 12, 2013, in connection with vandalism and explosion at a rally in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan office a day earlier.
Later, on March 24, last year, SI Mahmudul Hasan and also the Investigation Officer of the case submitted the charge sheet against 148 people. However, the court indicted 147 people, Rizvi, Aman and Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) President Shafiul Alam Pradhan. – Special Correspondent
