Dhaka-Barisal express passenger service

Day-time express passenger service and river cruising on Dhaka-Barisal-Dhaka route
starts from Sunday.Holding a press conference at a city restaurant Saturday the officials of the liner Bay
Cruise International Limited said they would like to emphasize more on
punctuality and comfort coupled with speed in transportation and the
international standards of safety for all passengers.
The press briefing was conducted by Lieutenant General (Retired) A T M Zahirul Alam, chairman of the company and
attended by Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Azizul Ashraf, managing director, Mr. Alamgir Hossain, director, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Noor Khan, Lieutenant
Colonel (Retired) Nasir, well-wishers of the company.
The passengers of this route on a four-hour journey not only reach to their
destination safely, comfortably in time but will also enjoy the best of the
international tourism standard day-time river-cruise scenario of the eternal
riverine beauty of Bangladesh.
Twin hull very fast water crafts BAY CRUISER 1 of the route built in 1995 and
launched in Bangladesh 2012 having a very low draft and very fast for inland
destinations with 252 passenger capacity.
It would depart Barisal River Port at 7:30 am and Dhaka Sadarghat at 2:00 pm every
day with highest speed of 28 nm per hour using two USA made  General
Motors engine and screw propulsion.
About safety of the passengers  they said the vessel enjoys a certification from the Korean Register (KR) equipped with
global positioning system, radar, automated hydraulic wheels  and has in built all internationally recognized regularly drilled and checked fire fighting and safety equipments.
Each passenger and crew has a dedicated life jacket in addition to Life Buoys, sufficient folding life rafts outside the passenger seating area. All personnel
of the vessel are trained swimmers as well as fire fighters.
The liner has to set a off line and online reservation and ticketing system at Dhaka and Barisal Port offices and head office fixing the per-person one-way
fare as Tk.800, Tk.1000 and Tk. 1200 for economy second and first class fare
named as Rajanigandha, Hasnahena and Krishnachura, adding per-Child (upto 12
years): 50 percent of regular price, Infant (upto 3 years – seat won’t be
allocated): Free of cost.
Audio-video equipments, LCD television sets for entertainment, hygienically cooked meals
and other food items from renowned companies would also be available on board
with a high priority on the cleanliness.
