Dhaka, Aug 25 – Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury, secretary of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Dhaka, sustained splinters injuries in an involuntary gunshot from an on-duty policeman in front of the hotel The Westin Dhaka in the city on Thursday night.The Constable, Imran Hossain of the Public Order and Management (POM) division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police was suspended on the charge of negligence of duty soon after the incident.
Officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police station AB Siddique said the incident took place at around 10:00 pm when the secretary of Intermediate and Secondary Education Board, Dhaka came out from the Westin Hotel. Suddenly he was hit by splinters that came out accidentally from the shotgun of Constable Imran Hossain, who along with two other cops were on-duty outside the hotel.
He received minor injuries as splinters hit different parts of his body, including chest, right hand and belly. He was rushed to Gulshan United Hospital, the OC said.
Constable Imran was suspended for negligence of duty, he added.
