Dhaka North City announces Tk 25 billion budget

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Sunday announced a Tk 2567.45 crore proposed budget for fiscal year 2018-2019, a Tk 182.65 crore rise from last fiscal’s budgetary outlay.

Acting DNCC Mayor Md Osman Gani formally announced the budget for the FY 2018-19 at a press briefing at the Nagar Bhaban of Gulshan-2 in the city.

DNCC is expecting a revenue generation of Tk 857.20 crore from its own sources, while Tk 200 crore will come as government’s development donation and Tk 1300 crore from different government and foreign aid organisations funded projects, the DNCC acting Mayor said.

A total of Tk 1962.80 crore has been kept for development purpose, which is 76 percent of total proposed budget, he added.

Osman Gani sought active and cordial cooperation from the city dwellers as well as mass-media in all activities of the corporation.

“We expect constructive and realistic criticism about our overall activities,” the DNCC acting mayor said in his budget speech.

Besides, the DNCC Panel Mayor also sought cooperation from all concerned to fair implementation of the proposed budget for resolving various problems of the city as well as to ensure various civic amenities.

The Acting Mayor hoped that the DNCC will earn Tk 400 crore from holding tax. Besides, Tk 60 crore is expected to come from trade license, Tk 7 crore from advertisements, Tk 1 crore from rickshaw licences, Tk 50 crore from markets and Tk 25 crore from cattle markets etc, he added.

Osmani Gani said of the total allocations, Tk 190 crore will be spent on salary and allowances, Tk 58,50 crore for water, power and electricity, Tk 78 crore for waste management, Tk 21 crore for mosquito control, Tk 12.50 crore for welfare and Tk 30.25 crore in repairing and maintenance works.
