Dhaka stock market index attains new high

The major price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reached a new high on Sunday on higher transactions.

DSEX finished the day with 24.86 points up at 6,306.95 which were the highest after introducing the DSEX on January 27, 2013.

The DSES for Shariah-based companies and DS30 for the blue chip scrips also followed the upward trend with 7.83 points up at 1,383.28 and 10.70 points up at 2,290.35 respectively.

The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 970.79 crore from Thursday’s Taka 737.98 crore and the daily trade also fell to 24.76 crore share from 19.25 crore share of the previous session.

At DSE, out of the day’s 324 securities, prices of 134 securities closed higher against 146 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were ECABLES, National Tubes, Pharma Aid, Unique HRL and Navana CNG while the major losing issues were GEMINISEA, Saif Power, Active Fine, AFC Agro and National Polymer.

Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by Shahjalal Bank, City Bank, BBS Cables and Dhaka Bank.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 92.82 points up at 19,538.42.

At CSE, 238 were issues traded. Of those, 104 closed higher and 108 closed lower while 1.28 crore shares worth Taka 44.08 crore changed hands.
