Dhaka – Police recovered the body of a divorced woman from her house at Kefayetnagar in Sadar upazila of Jessore on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Selina Begum, 48, daughter of late Hasem Ali of the village.Quoting locals, sub-inspector of Basundia police camp Zafar Ahmed said Selina, mother of a son and a daughter, used to live at the house of her father alone since her husband divorced her. His son stays in Bagerhat while the daughter has been married.
As neighbours did not get response from Selina till noon, they entered her room and found the body lying under a cot, said the SI.
On information, a police team recovered the body and sent it to Jessore 250-bedded General Hospital morgue, he said.
Miscreants might have strangulated Selina to death on Sunday night after violating her, Zafar said, adding that the culprits also scalded her body with burning cigarette butt. – UNB
