DNCC Mayor’s Goodwill

Inhabitants of Dhaka are happy to get two progressive minded Mayors of Dhaka City Corporation who are committed to make Dhaka a modern city. We sincerely hope that both the Mayors will be successful in implementing their development programs of course with all assistances from the Government. We wish their success.
Being a resident of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), I have been witnessing some action programs to keeping the city clean. Measures have been taken to improving the drainage system by cleaning the drains and clearing soil/dirt from the inlets of the covered drains. Some motivational programs have been taken to make people conscious about the importance of keeping environment tidy and clean. Credit of course goes to DNCC Mayor Annisul Huq. Cogratulations!Meanwhile I have noted with concern that the soil removed from the drain’s inlets have been kept in a heap by the side of the streets which ultimately moves to the inlets with rain water to blocking the inlets again.
To get things done properly I would like to suggest the following:
–all tasks relating to one job should be done at a time.
–community workers’ team should be formed to keep vigil so that people do not throw garbage/dirt to places other than the fixed ones.
–motivational campaign should be organized with the participation of inhabitants to create awareness not to throw dirt/refuses to the ground from the apartments but to dispose those in the fixed places in the house or in the locality
–introduction of minor fines, issuance of warning letters etc. may work well to educate the norms
There are other sectors, such as, urination, spitting hither and thither needs motivational campaign and some pragmatic actions.
