Don’t upload contents supporting militancy on social sites: Police

Dhaka – Police Headquarters has urged all to refrain from uploading, sharing, commenting on and liking any video, photo or message in support of IS or militancy on social networking sites, including Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, UNB news agency reported.The uploading, sharing, commenting on and liking of any video, photo or message in support of the IS or militancy on social networking sites, including Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, are a punishable offence, said a press release on Wednesday.
It said stern action will be taken if anyone uploads, shares and likes such videos, photos or messages, and comments on those.
The call came following the militant attack on the Holey Artisan Bakery at Gulshan on Friday that killed 22 people apart from six alleged attackers.
Seven gunmen stormed the Spanish restaurant while firing and took around 40 people, including restaurant staff and guests — both locals and foreigners — hostage.
The 12-hour standoff ended with the recovery of the bodies of 20 hostages, killing of two senior police officials and six suspected attackers.
