Dr Kamal concerned over govt’s latest moves; Rally Wednesday

Dhaka, Oct 23 – Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain on Tuesday voiced concern over the government’s recent ‘moves’ as those may destroy the country’s political atmosphere. In a statement, he said, “The arrest and harassment of political leaders and activists at this time on various excuses is unexpected.”
Dr Kamal said he together with his other colleagues formed the Jatiya Oikya Front with an objective to ensure fair election where all the political parties who believe in the Liberation War spirit can take part in a disciplined way. “It’s in favour of the Prime Minister’s thoughts.”
“Unfortunately, we’re worried over the government’s recent steps. We fear the country’s smooth political atmosphere may get destroyed by the moves,” he said.
Dr Kamal, however, did not specify government’s any move or arrest of any political leader.
On October 13, BNP along with Dr Kama-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, JSD and Nagorik Oikya launched the Jatiy Oikyafront to press for their seven-point demand, including holding the next polls under a non-party administration. – UNB
