Drama “Rajaboli” was staged on March 7 at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to honour the historic speech given by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in March, 1971.
The drama inspired by Rabindranath Tagore-Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay was staged for the fourth time. The drama was directed by Shahjahan Shobhon and has been planned by Dr Mukid Chowdhury.
The drama is about Tripura’s king Govinda Manikya’s fight against religious malpractices like animal sacrifices in temples. The king incurred the disfavor of the temple’s high priest who called up public uproar. But in the end the king stood tall. Rahitul Alam Apan, Rajib Chandra Shil, Shahjahan Shobhon, Sifat Ara Bhuiyan Bonna, Sharmin Koli have acted in the drama. This is “Natyabhumi” theatre troupe’s 19th production till date.
