Dhaka – A suspected drug trader sustained bullet injuries in a reported gunfight with police during an anti-narcotic drive in the city’s Mohammadpur area early Wednesday.The injured, Falu, is a listed drug trader and accused in 14 cases filed with different police stations in the city, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
A team of Mohammadpur Police Station arrested Falu from the Dhaka Udyan area around 12am along with 305 Yaba pills, 50 grams of heroin and 1 kg hemp, he said.
Based on his statement, the police team along with Falu went to Basila around 2:30 am to recover illegal drugs.
However, his associates fired gunshots targeting the law enforcers. Police also responded that triggered a brief shootout.
Falu sustained bullet injuries to his leg while four policemen were also injured in the incident, Masudur said.
The drug dealer was admitted to Pangu Hospital while the four policemen were taken to the Central Police Hospital.UNB
