An alleged drug smuggler was killed in a clash with members of Detective Branch (DB) of police at Shikri border point in Sadar
upazila early Wednesday.The deceased was identified as Manir Hossain,27, son of Rajab Ali, a resident of Kaliani Chhoighoria village of the same upazila.Police sources said on secret information, a team of DB police challenged a group of drug smugglers in Gajalia Beel (Water body) area
of the border point and recovered some bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup on Tuesday at about 9:30 pm.Later, the smugglers attacked assistant sub-inspector Aminul Islam and constable Abdur Rahim and chopped them in the dead of night, leaving them injured.
At that time, the law enforcers opened fire on them, leaving Monir injured.Later, police arrested him and took him to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.Critically injured, constable Abdur Rahim was taken to Khulna Medical
