‘Drug trader’ killed in Mymensingh ‘gunfight’ 

Dhaka – An alleged drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with DB police in Kala Bazar area in Mymensingh  early Saturday.A team of Detective Branch of police in a drive arrested suspected drug trader Kala Chand along with 50 pieces of Yaba pills and a sharp weapon from Patgudam area around2am, said Ashikur Rahman, officer-in-charge of district DB police.

Later, the team conducted another drive along with Kala Chand to arrest his associate Siraj.When the team reached the area on Alia Madrasa road around2:30am, a gang of drug traders, numbering 7-8, tried to snatch Kala Chand and opened fire on police, prompting them to retaliate, triggering the gun battle, said the OC.

During the fight, Kala Chand received a bullet on his chest and got injured critically.Later, hewas taken to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead.Police recovered a sharp weapon and two bullet shells from the spot.UNB
