DSE index crosses 5900 points

The major price index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) crossed 5,900 points mark today for the first time on higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX finished the session with 27.18 points up at 5907.63 which was the highest after introducing the DSEX on January 27, 2013. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 6.95 points up at 2130.07 and with 1.49 points up at 1313.12.

The trade value of the day was Taka 919.32 crore and the trade volume was 35.09 crore shares.

Among the traded 332 issues at DSE, 153 closed higher against 146 losing issues.

The top five gaining companies were BBS Cables, SEMLIBBLSF, City General Insurance, BSRM Limited and Dhaka Insurance.

The top five losing companies were ISNLTD, Samata Leather, Dulamia Cotton, Fine Foods and Miracle Industry.

City Bank topped the turnover followed by BBS Cables, IFAD Autos, Lanka Bangla Finance and CAN Textile.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the same trend with its CASPI index 87.47 points up at 18,324.04.

The trade value of the day was Taka 63.59 crore and the volume was 2.54 crore. Out of the traded 255 issues, 123 closed up against 106 lagging securities.
