DU Paribesh Parishad meeting held over Ducsu polls

A meeting of the Dhaka University (DU) Paribesh Parishad was held on the campus on Monday over elections to DU Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) and hall unions.
The Paribesh Parishad, a platform comprising university authorities and student organisations, works for maintaining a congenial atmosphere on the campus.DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman presided over the meeting which started around 11:30am and ended around 3pm at Abdul Matin Virtual Classroom of the Administrative Building of the university.
The meeting discussed the amendment to the Ducsu constitution and code of conducts for the central and hall unions’ polls.DU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Prof Kamal Uddin, Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani, and provosts and assistant proctors of the residential halls participated in the meeting.Presidents and general secretaries of the central and DU units of 14 student bodies took part in the meeting.
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani, its DU unit president Sonjit Chandra Das and general secretary Saddam Hussain, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) general secretary Akramul Hasan, its DU unit president Al Mehedi Hasan Talukder and general secretary Abul Bashar Siddique, Chhatra Union president GM Jilani Shuvo and general secretary Liton Nondi, its DU unit president Foez Ullah and general secretary Rajib Das and representatives of other student bodies attended the meeting.
After the meeting, BCL general secretary Golam Rabbani said BCL always wants that the Ducsu election is held. “We’ve urged the university authorities to hold the election in a free and fair manner as soon as possible.” He also said they will help the university authorities maintain a peaceful environment on the campus. “We welcome all progressive student organisations to participate in the election.”
JCD general secretary Akramul Hasan said they urged the university authorities to create a democratic environment on the campus before the election. “Or else, it won’t be possible to hold a participatory and inclusive election.”DU Proctor Prof Dr AKM Golam Rabbani said the authorities called the student leaders to hear their demands and suggestions over the elections.
