DU student tortured by BCL needs long term treatment

Dhaka, Feb 10 – Ehsan Rafiq has to go in a long term medical treatment as his right eye is in risk; could be damaged permanently, internal bleeding is happening in his eye also cornea could be damaged as his eye was punched indiscriminately.Ehsan Rafiq’s, a second year student of disaster management and science department of Dhaka University, who was roughed up by Chhatra League activists on Tuesday night on because of silly matter at SM hall of Dhaka University .
Doctor of Bangladesh Eye Hospital of the capital said today he have to go through a long time treatment may be in could take 6 months but they are not giving any assurance of full recovery of his right eye.
Victim’s father, Rofiqul Islam, a journalist said to the independent today (Saturday) and expressed his worry as he said our family is confused weather we should take Ehsan to India for better treatment or not.
Ehsan’s physical is getting worse as he is vomiting as attackers hit him with iron rods at his head and other parts of the body, Rofiqul Islam added.
Last night vice chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Akhtaruzzaman has gone at Ehsan’s uncle house at Mugda of the capital to see his condition at 7:30 pm last night and give assurance to give punishment of the attackers.
On the other hand ‘Students Against Reparation’ a banner of general students arranged a protest rally at the premises of Aparejeo Bangla at 1 pm tomorrow (Sunday) against Ehsan Rafiq;s attack.
Meanwhile a three member probe body has been formed to investigate the incident by SM hall authorities where Prof Sabbir Ahmed, the hall’s house tutor is the head of the committee and the committee has been asked to give report within seven working days.
Bangladesh Chhatra League also suspended three of their activists for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Earlier on Tuesday night, Chhatra League activists of SM hall beat up Ehsan Rafiq for three times allegedly for demanding back his calculator and confined him at Tahsan Ahmed; hall BCL president’s room without food for eight hour so that the news of the incident could not spread. – Staff Reporter
