Dudu, 2 Juba Dal, Shibir activists placed on remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Monday placed three people, including BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu, on a five-day remand each in a case filed under the Special Powers Act.
Magistrate Mohammad Aminul Islam passed the order when Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, sub-inspector of Mirpur Model Police Station and also the Investigation Officer of the case, produced the accused before the court, seeking a 10-day remand for each accused.Two other accused are Md Rafiqul Islam Liton, secretary of Mitpur no 14 ward unit Jubo Dal and Mohammad Didar, an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir.
The case statement says that miscreants set a bus afire in the city’s Shewarapara area on Sunday, the 6th day of the countrywide blockade enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance. Later, the police who were on patrol duty, doused the fire.
Later, police lodged a case against 40 identified people, including the BNP leader, and scores of unidentified people in connection with the arson attack.
Police arrested Shamsuzzaman Dudu and two others from Rabbani Hotel in the city’s Mirpur area on Sunday night. – Court Correspondent
