EC reconstitution: Khaleda to unveil framework Nov 18

Dhaka – BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will unveil a framework on November 18 for the reconstitution of the Election Commission.
She will come up with her party’s proposal at a press conference at the city’s Westin Hotel at the fag end of the incumbent Election Commission headed by Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad, said a party press release on Monday. UNB news agency reported
The five-year tenure of the present commission will expire on February 8, 2017.
Party sources said the BNP chairperson, on behalf of the 20-party alliance, will also place a formula on how to hold a free, fair and inclusive national election.
Khaleda may also propose names of dignitaries, retired justices, members of civil society and politicians to form the election-time government, party insiders said.
She is likely to propose a search committee comprising civil society members to find out neutral and competent persons for posts of the chief election commissioner and election commissioners.
