Edu minister says crisis of public uni teachers will be resolved soon

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Saturday hoped that the ongoing crisis over the demands of the public university teachers centering the 8th Pay Scale will be resolved soon.“The cabinet committee on eliminating salary discriminations will sit soon over the teachers’ demands,” the minister told UNB after the teachers announced to go on an indefinite strike from 11 January to realise their demands.

Nahid said the committee meeting will be held when the Finance Minister will give time as he is its head.

“We hope the teachers will have a credible solution,” he said adding, “Our ministry is working relentlessly for an immediate solution to the crisis.”

The demands of the teachers include the removal of discriminations in the 8th Pay Scale and retaining selection grade and time scale.
