Ekushey Book Fair will be covered by CC camera

Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor today said a stringent security vigil would be enforced at Bangla Academy and adjacent areas with installation of close circuit cameras and deployment of law enforcement agencies during the month-long Ekushey Book Fair.Talking to newsmen during a visit to the fair premises at Bangla Academy, he said the entire area from Doel Chattar to the road island in front of the Institute of Fine Arts would be under security cover this year with installation of close-circuit cameras.

“There will also be adequate arrangement of lights all over the area of the book fair. Book lovers and visitors can enter into the fair premises from three directions and can also exit through these gates,” he said.

Noor said the security arrangements would require the visitors to pass through the archways to be installed in all the gates while security workers would carry metal detectors to search suspected people.

“There would be many innovative changes in the decoration of the book fair this year . . . The book stalls are arranged cluster-wise so as to avoid convergence of a big crowd at a time at the same spot inside the fair area,” he said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally open the annual event on the premises of Bangla Academy.
