‘Ensure rights of children, women to realize charter of changes’

Speakers at a fair inaugural ceremony have said the charter of changes
can be realised for building a medium income digital Bangladesh
through ensuring rights of children and women for their development.
To attain the goals, they asked all concerned to give up the habit of
much talking but to work more with utmost sincerity for overall
advancement of society to make the Vision-2021 a successful.
They were addressing the inaugural ceremony of the two-day Children
Fair-2013 organised by the District Information Office (DIO) on Boda
upazila parishad premises in Panchagarh on Monday.
The DIO organised the fair under the ‘Communication Programmes for
Children and Women Development’ of the Department of Mass
Communications under the Ministry of Information as part of massive
social awareness raising campaign.
Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Mohammad Salahuddin attended the
colourful ceremony as the chief guest and inaugurated the fair with
Boda UNO Mahbubur Rahman in the chair.
Boda upazila parishad chairman Abdul Aziz, upazila vice-chairmen
Mofidul Islam and Lailey Begum and Panchagarh District Children
Affairs Officer Mohammad Akhteruzzaman, addressed as the special
guests.
District Information Officer of Panchagarh Shariful Islam delivered
the welcome speech narrating the awareness building objectives of the
fair.
Earlier, a colourful rally, participated by students, teachers,
political leaders, officials and employees, socio-cultural and NGO
activists, guardians, distressed and neglected women and common
people, was brought out in the upazila town.
The speakers said children must be provided with quality education and
all basic needs irrespective of their socio-economic status both in
rural and urban areas to ensure their human rights to make them worthy
citizens to lead the nation in future.
They favoured ensuring birth registration, family planning, women
education and empowerment, adolescents’ healthcare and nutrition,
eradicating repressions, dowry, child marriage, human trafficking and
other social curses for development of children.
Several stalls have been set up by the government and non-government
organisations, educational institutions, union information service
centres in the fair and group-based drawing, quiz and song
