Standard of primary education stressed in Gaibandha

Speakers at a function on Monday stressed the need for improving
standard of primary education in a bid to help students achieve
brilliant results.
“The teachers and members of school managing committee (SMC),
including officials concerned can work together and play vital roles
in ensuring better education to the students to face challenges of the
21st century”, they said.
They made the comments while addressing a gathering of teachers aimed
at achieving quality primary education jointly organized by Sadar
upazila administration and Upazila Primary Education Office at the
auditorium of upazila parishad of the town.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Quazi Anwarul Haque addressed the function
as the chief guest and superintendent of police M Shajid Hossain,
upazila chairman Abdur Rashid Sarker and district primary education
officer Amirul Islam were present as the special guests.
With UNO Mamunur Rashid in the chair, the function was also addressed,
among others, by upazila primary education officer Abdul Jobbar and
head teacher of South Dhanghara Government Primary School Zia Ashraf.
The speakers also called upon the guardians and the members of SMC to
send children of the areas to the schools to achieve the 100 per cent
enrolment rate and to check their drop out rate anyhow to make the
objectives of primary education a total success.
Terming primary education as the foundation of all education DC Dr
Quazi Anwarul Haque said the present government had given priority to
overall development of primary education to build an enlightened
nation.
The government had nationalized 26,131 non government primary schools
to attain the cherished goal of primary education, he said.
A total of 215 teachers of government primary schools of the upazila,
SMC members and public representatives, including journalists attended
