Ershad blames government for the murders

Prime Minister’s Special Envoy Hussein Muhammad Ershad has said the killing of two foreigners within the span of a week only manifests the government’s failure in maintaining law and order.Ershad, who heads Jatiya Party, addressed a press conference at his party office at Dhaka’s Banani on Monday where he dwelt on the two murders.“The post-Eid murders clearly prove that government has failed to improve the law-and-order situation. A Japanese national was killed even in broad daylight in Rangpur on Oct 3,” he said.“We can see that not only the common people of the country, even foreign nationals are not safe here. This is tarnishing the image of the country.”Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella was gunned down by miscreants in the heart of the capital on Sep 28. Within a week, Japanese national Kunio Hoshi was killed in similar manner in Rangpur.
