EU Ambassador condemns Italian aid worker killing

The Ambassador of the European Union to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon has condemned the killing of Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella employed by the Netherlands-based NGO, ICCO on Monday evening by unidentified gunmen in the Gulshan diplomatic zone.
Terming it as a terrorist crime and barbaric aggression, the EU ambassador urged the law enforcement agencies to investigate the killing and bring its perpetrators to justice.Text of the statement is as follows: “EU Ambassador to Bangladesh, Pierre Mayaudon, expresses his consternation following the savage assassination in Dhaka of Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella employed by the Netherlands-based NGO, ICCO. He wishes to convey his condolences to Cesare’s family, friends and colleagues.
“All staff of the EU Delegation in Bangladesh join him in expressing their sorrow as well as their solidarity with the deceased’s loved ones.
“Cesare Tavella had come to Bangladesh for helping the poorest of the poor which makes this
crime even more horrific.
“Ambassador Mayaudon condemns this terrorist crime in the strongest possible terms and urges
the law enforcement agencies to promptly investigate this barbaric aggression and bring the
perpetrators to justice.” – News Desk
