Ex-BNP leader’s son Irad on remand for fb post on PM

Dhaka – The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP arrested, Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddique was yesterday (Thursday) placed on a four-day remand in a case filed with Kotwali Police Station of the city.He was produced to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka seeking a seven-day remand, while Magistrate Md Khurshid Alam passed order to put him on a four-day remand after hearing. Inspector Showkot Ali Sarker Chowdhury produced Irad to the court.
Irad, a son of former BNP Standing Committee Member Chowdhury Tanveer Ahmed Siddique, was arrested early Thursday near the Shahjalal International Airport area of the capital in connection with a case lodged under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
A team of CTTC unit conducted a drive in the area and detained Irad Ahmed, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Police DMP (Media unit).
Irad Ahmed was wanted in separate cases lodged under the ICT Act on charge of posting derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his facebook page, Masudur Rahman added.
