Ex-JCD president Tuku freed on bail

Nearly six months after his arrest, former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal president Sultan Salahuddin Tuku was freed from jail on bail on Friday.
Tuku was released from the Kashimpur Central Jail around 6:45pm after his release order reached the jail authorities.As he came out of part-2, local leaders and activists of BNP and JCD receive him with garlands.
On October 21 last year, policemen deployed in front of the BNP office locked into an altercation with members of Chairperson’s Security Force (CSF), the private security force of Khaleda Zia, when the opposition leader was coming out of the office after visiting ailing party joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed.
At one stage, police assaulted some CSF members and arrested Tuku from a CSF vehicle.
Later, he was shown arrested in different criminal cases, including one for attempting to murder a police officer, and taken on remand on several times. – UNB
