Rail communication to and from the port cit of Chittaong has remained suspended since 4 am on Monday as the engine and two bogies of the Nasirabad Express Train coming from Mymensingh derailed at Mirsarai due to removal of some fishplates of the track, Chittagong Railway sources said.They said unidentified miscreants removed some fishplates of the track in the dead of night causing the accident. Three passengers received injuries as a result. Rail communication on the route can be restored only after salvage of the derailed engine and bogies they said.
A number of trains leaving Chittagong for Dhaka and starting from Dhaka, Sylhet and Chandpur for Chittagong have been stranded at different stations due to the accident, the sources said.
SK Sen on duty guard of the train told journalists that some clips of the line were removed by miscreants, and this caused the accident. The injured included the driver of the train Yousuf Chowdhury, sources said. – Staff Reporter
